Sullivant Bright Project

A hihg-contrast picture of a utility box wrap installation. The box is neon orange with pastel cartoon angels going in diagonal lines across the box. One angel is a single eyeball with hands as eyelashes and feathery wings. Another is a large eye with a crown halo and insect legs. Another angel is made of two conjoined circles with small spiral wings, splitting like a cell.

In 2021, the city of Columbus launched an infrastructure revitalization initiative titled The Sullivant Bright Project. Artists created mural wraps for bus stops and utility boxes alongside traffic improvements for Sullivant Avenue. For this project, I sought to uplift the power of queer representation, in message and medium. Using bright colours and limitless cartoon bodies, I seek to paint our city in the light it deserves: a vibrant, diverse destination bustling with quirky characters welcomed by all. This proposal was accepted in January 2022, with installation finalized in October.
